Former four-division title-holder serves 10-day jail sentence unrelated to recent felony assault and aggravated robbery charges

Former four-division title-holder Adrien Broner has been jailed for a violation of his probation relating to a reckless driving case from last year.

The Cincinnati native began serving a 10-day sentence on Tuesday morning after Hamilton County judge Lisa C Alleb revoked his probation for the charge, which court records indicate was filed on 15 January 2015 and continued on 16 February of this year.

The 26-year-old had been sentenced to six months probation in July relating to a drunken driving arrest, later entering a plea of no contest to reckless driving.

The incarceration is unrelated to Broners recent arrest stemming from an alleged felony assault and robbery at gunpoint of a man outside a Cincinnati bowling alley on the morning of 21 January, where it is alleged Broner lost $12,000 to the victim during a night of high-stakes betting on bowling games.

Despite those charges, Broner was permitted to fight on 1 April in Washington DC on the condition he turned himself in upon return to Ohio. He lost his junior welterweight title on the scale after failing to make weight, but scored a ninth-round TKO of Ashley Theophane.

A message posted from Broners Instagram and verified Twitter accounts on Wednesday requested fans send letters to the Hamilton County Justice Center, where he will be held until 22 April.

Adrien Broners team has requested his fans write him while incarcerated.

Broner, who has held versions of major world titles at 130lb, 135lb, 140lb and 147lb, complied by surrendering to authorities three days following the fight and was released after posting bond of $100,000.
